TagPrint Pro 1.0 Cheat Sheet A Basic beginner's guide to using TagPrint Pro 1.0 for Windows Go from installation to printing in 10 minutes or less (The internet DEMO version of TagPrint Pro WILL NOT print. It is for use in evaluation only) To Make a Label: 1. Open the TagPrint Pro 1.0 software program. 2. Choose “Create a new label design” and click on the “OK” button. 3. Once in the "Label Design Guide" Step 1 dialog box, click on the "Select Label..." button to select a pre-defined label design. 4. Once in the "Select label" dialog box, click on the box labeled "Show" to choose the family of label you wish to use. Be sure to choose the correct family based on the type of printer you wish to use. 5. You will see all the label types available for your printer listed in rows. Choose the label that you use by clicking on it once. It will highlight and you will be able to preview the label by looking on the right side of the screen. Information about that label is listed above the preview. Click on the "OK" button to choose the label. 6. When you return to the "Label Design Guide" Step 1 dialog box, click on "Next >" button to proceed to the next step. 7. You will arrive at the "Label Design Guide" Step 2 dialog box. This screen is your Label Design Wizard and it allows you to easily design basic labels. a. If you wish to add fixed text to your label design (text that does not change from label to label) then click once on the button that looks like an insert tool. A box will appear that says {constant}. b. If you wish to add variable text to your label design (text that changes from label to label) then click once on the button that looks like a small table. A box will appear that says {A}. This means it will read from Column A in the table. 8. Click on "Next >" if you chose variable text or "Finish" if you chose only fixed text. 9. If you chose at least one variable text box then you will go to a "Label Design Guide" Step 3 dialog box. A message saying "The label design contains object(s) linked to a data table." Check the box next named "Create a new data table" and click on the "Finish" button. 10. Double click on any text box that says {constant} and begin typing numbers or text. Multiple lines will automatically wrap around and adjust their size. 11. You may adjust the size of any of the text boxes by clicking on them once to highlight the box then click-and-hold on one of the black boxes at the object’s border. Drag with the cursor until the box is the shape you like, then release the mouse button. 12. You may add any object to the label design by clicking on the corresponding tool left of the label design. Once the tool is selected you can place it on the label design by clicking and dragging the box until it is the shape you desire. Release the mouse button to place the object. To use the Table Function: 1. If you chose variable text for your label design while in the "Label Design Guide", then you should already have a table open on your screen. If you do not, make sure that one of your drawn text boxes has an "A" in it. If it does not, start with a new label design. 2. If your label design has an "A" in it, you should enter all your text into the "A" column of the table. Do not enter information in any other column unless you have enough variable text boxes on your label design. 3. Click once on cell A1. The cell should be highlighted in a different color. 4. Enter any text that you wish to appear on the label. Press "Enter" or the down arrow on your keyboard to accept the text. 5. Continue entering any desired text in the table until you have entered all your data. To use the Sequencing Feature of Table: 1. Click once on cell A1. The cell should be highlighted in a different color. 2. Go to the "Table" menu and go down to the "Sequence..." option. Choose it. 3. Once at the "Sequence" dialog box, enter any fixed information you want before your number into the "Prefix" box. 4. Enter the starting number in the "Start" box. 5. Enter any text you want after your number in the "Suffix" box. 6. Enter the ending number in the "Stop" box. 7. Click on the "Start" button to initialize the sequencing. 8. After the sequencing is done, Click on the "Close" button to return to your table. To Place a Graphic Image: 1. To import a picture to the label design design, you must first draw a graphics box. 2. To draw a graphics box, go to the "Insert" menu and go down to the "Image" option. Choose the "Constant" option that pops up to the right of the menu. (You may also choose the "Table" option if your graphic will change from label to label. See the manual for this advanced option) 3. On the label design click, hold, and drag the mouse to draw a box where you want the graphic to be placed. 4. Release the mouse button to place the graphics box on the label design. 5. Once in the "Select Image" dialog box, choose the graphic that you would like placed on your label design. You may need to navigate your hard drive to find the image you desire. 6. Preview the graphic by clicking on it once in the directory and looking at the preview window. "Show preview" will need to be checked. 7. Click on the "Open" button to import the graphic into your label design. 8. You should see the graphic placed in your graphics box on the label design. To Create a Bar Code: 1. To draw a bar code, you must first draw a bar code box. 2. To draw a bar code box, go to the "Insert" menu and go down to the "Bar code" option. Choose the "Constant" option that pops up to the right of the menu. (You may also choose the "Table" option if your bar code will change from label to label. See the manual for this advanced option) 3. A "Select bar code type" dialog box will come up. 4. Choose "Code 39" under the "Symbology" option. (See the user’s manual for the use of other bar code types or for more specific instructions) 5. Click on "OK" 6. On the label design click, hold, and drag the mouse to draw a box where you want the bar code to be placed. 7. Release the mouse button to place the bar code box on the label design. 8. A "Enter bar code text" dialog box will appear. 9. Enter the text you wish the bar code to contain. (Try not to enter more than three or four digits for demonstration. Also, make sure to use all capital letters.) 10. If scissors appear, it means the bar code is too large to fit in the text box that you have drawn. Try the following to make the scissors go away: a. Try adjusting the size of your bar code box by selecting it and then click, hold, and drag on one of the black boxes on the border until the box is larger. b. Try adjusting the size of the font to 8pt. or smaller. c. Go to the "Object" menu and choose "Properties". Once in "Properties", make the following adjustments: · Uncheck the "Conform to Standard" option. · Change Module to "0.01" · Change Compensation to "-1" · Change Height to "0.200" · Change Ratio to "2:1" · Uncheck the "Add check digit" and "Add quiet zone" options. · Click on the "OK" box. To Print a Finished Label: 1. Click on the "File" menu and choose the "Print Preview..." option to make sure your label looks as it should. 2. Click on the "Close" button to close the "Print Preview" dialog box. 3. Click on the "File" menu and choose the "Print..." option. 4. Make sure the appropriate printer was selected next to the "Printer Name". 5. Click on "OK" after you have changed any options you would like in the "Print" dialog box. (If you are running TagPrint Pro in Demo mode, you will have limited printing capabilities or no printing privileges at all. The full registered version of the software will allow you to print as many labels as you like)
